Claims Handler Job Description

We are looking to hire a Claims Handler to manage our insurance claims. As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for investigating and processing insurance claims made by policyholders. You will liaise with clients, insurers, and other parties to ensure that claims are resolved efficiently and fairly.

To be successful as a Claims Handler, you should be able to keep calm under pressure and have excellent negotiation skills


  • Examine claim liability 
  • Prepare and process claim reports
  • Consult with specialists (e.g. Doctors, Police)
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants
  • Delivering excellent standards of customer service through high quality and efficient handling of policyholders' claims
  • Making prompt and timely decisions on policy cover and settlement cost
  • Examine police reports, videos from surveillance cameras or audio if applicable


  • Previous experience as a claims handler or similar role
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Experience in writing detailed reports
  • A compassionate and resilient personality
